Trivia #4: Squids

Our topic this time is..squids! (chosen by Prom15e, one of our two trivia writers. The last one about toilets was chosen by me, Aki)

1. The eyes of giant squids can be as large as basketballs. 
2. Squid ink contains chemicals that render certain species of fish sluggish and un-responsive.
3. Squids have gills, like fish.
4. A squid’s skin can flash up to 50 hypnotic patterns. Squids use changing body color patterns to signal each other.
5. Squids have three hearts.
6. They move through the water tail first instead of head first.
7. Female squids lay thousands of eggs at a time.
8. Squids have 8 arms and 2 long feeding tentacles.
9. The squid is the fastest moving invertebrate, some species clocking in at around 25 miles per hour. 
10. Giant squid have been known to grow up to around 60 feet in length, tentacles being 35 feet of those 60.

Last time's incorrect fact was: "Spiders have been known to commit suicide by jumping into toilets. Scientists are baffled as to why, but studies have shown that there might be a nuero-trigger in the spider's miniscule brain that leads to this behavior."
